Don Carli
Don Carli is Executive Vice President of SustainCommWorld LLC, and Senior Research Fellow with nonprofit Institute for Sustainable Communication (ISC) where he is director of The Sustainable Advertising Partnership and other programs addressing marketing, advertising, corporate responsibility, sustainability, and enterprise communication. Don is also Sustainability Editor of Graphic Arts Monthly Magazine, and Consulting Editor of Aktuel Grafisk Information Magazine in Sweden.

Vic Barkin
Vic Barkin has more than 30 years of experience in the printing industry and currently owns a consulting practice specializing in digital printing business development, workflow, and technology implementation geared to the in-plant community. He also offers expertise in "Green Printing" practices and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification facilitation, has served as a consultant for Smartwood's FSC-certification program and has audited or assessed over 70 printing facilities across the country. Barkin serves as vice president for the Mountain States Printing Education Foundation and is a contributing writer for In-Plant Graphics Magazine.

Harvey Levenson
Dr. Harvey Robert Levenson is a Professor and Department Head of Graphic Communication at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. His teaching and research specialties are printing, technology, communication, media, and research methods. Dr. Levenson is an active researcher, consultant, expert witness and speaker on matters related to printing, technology, graphic arts patents, media, and communication, and he has authored many articles and books on these subjects. He has been a technical consultant to approximately 250 printing and related companies. Dr. Levenson's latest books are, Understanding Graphic Communication: Selected Readings published by GATFPress, Some Ideas About Doing Research in Graphic Communication, and Introduction to Graphic Communication.

Ken Macro
Ken Macro is an assistant professor in the Graphic Communication Department at California Polytechnic State University. He specializes in print production management, marketing and sales, knowledge management, Lean manufacturing, and training program development. He is the faculty adviser for University Graphic Systems (UGS)--a student-managed, student-run printing enterprise on the campus of Cal Poly. Prior to academia, he was the director for Reprographics, Mailing, and Shipping Services at Cal Poly. Ken holds a BA from the Pennsylvania State University an MA from the University of Akron and is currently a doctoral candidate pursuing studies in education and knowledge management from Walden University.

Christina Page
Chris Page joined Yahoo! in July of 2007 and is the director of Climate and Energy at the company. Page is responsible for overseeing the company’s climate-neutral program, efficiency and clean tech initiatives, and providing technical support to Yahoo!’s all-volunteer Green Team, an employee group that harnesses the collective energy of Yahoos around the world to reduce Yahoo!’s carbon footprint and improve overall environmental practices.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, Page was a senior consultant on the Energy and Resources Team at Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), a Colorado-based think-and-do tank founded by energy efficiency guru Amory Lovins. In this role, Page was responsible for assessing energy efficiency opportunities for commercial and industrial clients, as well as conducting strategic analysis of the market potential for vehicle-to-grid technology for an investor-owned utility client. She has extensive knowledge of greenhouse gas reduction methodologies and has helped to design models to help electricity utilities reduce greenhouse emissions. She also provided counsel to business networks on corporate social responsibility practices.

Page is a member of the 2002 class of Dana Meadows Leadership Fellows and a Fulbright Senior Specialist roster candidate, and was a member of the all-volunteer Mountain Rescue Aspen team in Colorado, responsible for assisting lost and injured parties in the Rocky Mountains. She has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from Brown University and a Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

John Parsons
John Parsons is Editorial Director for The Seybold Report, a bimonthly journal of news, trends and in-depth analysis of technologies affecting publishers, printers, Internet providers and business communicators. He has worked in numerous sectors of the publishing communications field since 1975 and has written and spoken widely on a broad spectrum of industry topics.

Lisa Wellman
Lisa Wellman is CEO of SustainCommWorld. Lisa’s 25-year career in technology and marketing includes positions from systems development to business development and marketing to executive management. She has held executive level positions in Fortune 100 companies, headed venture-funded entrepreneurial initiatives and provided strategic business and marketing consultation for major U.S. corporations.

Lisa headed the worldwide Publishing, Entertainment and New Media markets for Apple, was CEO of an HP-dot com, and was recently turnaround President of a Seattle-based advertising agency. She has served on advisory boards for Cal Poly Graphic Communication Department and the American Film Institute. She is current chair of a micro-lending organization, Washington CASH and sits on the Washington state Community Economic Revitalization Board.

Roger Ynostroza
For more than 30 years Roger Ynostroza, former Editor-in-Chief of Graphic Arts Monthly, present Senior Project Editor, and present editor of Gravure Magazine has been covering the printing industry in the United States. He has presented to audiences around the world, and written about conventional and digital graphic arts technology, printers’ adoption of innovative systems, executives’ opinions about print media issues, historical milestones and editorial perspectives on a range of topics.

Gerry Bonetto

Printing Industries of California

Printing Industries of California is the public affairs office of the three commercial printing trade associations of the state with a combined membership of 3,100 firms employing 70,000 workers. Gerry represents the industry before the state legislature and various regulatory bodies. He has received several industry leadership awards including the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation's prestigious William Schaeffer Award which recognizes individuals who contribute to the field of environmental management. He has also served as a founding member and president of the California Small Business Alliance and California Environmental Health and Safety Coalition. Bonetto also teaches at California State University, Los Angeles offering classes in American political thought, public policy, political economy and American government. Bonetto holds a B.S. in Finance from San Jose State University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Government from Claremont Graduate School.

Kevin Cooper

Cal Poly State University, Graphic Communication Department

Kevin Cooper is a professor in the Graphic Communication department at Cal Poly State University, where his instruction focuses on strategic management and other business issues related to the printing industry. He is als co-author of "Lean Printing: Pathway to Success" with professors Malcolm G. Keif, and Kenneth L. Macro, Jr. of CalPoly.

A former executive with both RR Donnelley and Microsoft, Cooper spent nearly twenty years in the printing industry before returning to Cal Poly in 2000. In addition to his role as a professor in the Graphic Communication department, he engages in consulting activities focused on lean manufacturing implementations. Cooper is a 1980 graduate of Cal Poly’s College of Business, and obtained his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1990.

Jim Duffy

James Duffy is the President and cofounder of Alonzo Printing located in Hayward, California. Founded in 1976, their mission is "to offer environmental print communication solutions that protect our communities and sustain our environment." Alonzo Printing has over 50 employees in a union environment committed to customer and vendor education on the benefits of operating as a green business. Jim has previously served as a Director of Printing Industries of Northern California, President of the Web Press Association and President of the East Bay Club of Printing House Craftsmen. Jim currently serves as a member of the Green Business of Alameda County Steering Committee.

Bill Esler

Bill Esler is Editor in Chief of Graphic Arts Monthly, the leading magazine for the graphic arts and allied industries, published by Reed Business Information. He is responsible for overall editorial planning and content of each issue, as well as for companion on-line publications e-GAM and graphicartsmonthly.com. Prior to that, he was editor and publisher of Graphic Communications World newsletter, and before that spent six years working on specialized print industry publications for Reed.

Bill has been in the graphic arts field for more than 30 years in various editorial and print industry production positions. A graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, IL, he received print industry technical training at Triton College, near Chicago. He has contributed to three Techno Economic Forecasts for the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, and has presented at numerous industry meetings in the U.S. and China.

Bill is on the board of the Technical Assn. of the Graphic Arts (TAGA) and of the Print & Graphics Scholarship Foundation.

Laura Field
North American Media Manager
HP Indigo division

After many years in the paper industry, fulfilling many rolls at a specialty paper merchant/converter, Laura Field joined HP in 2005 to assist HP Indigo with their media concerns. With a background of paper and specialty media technical sales, management and eventually President of Russell- Field Paper, her experience provided an ideal background for HP Indigo’s growing customer base. As HP Indigo’s Media Manager for the America’s, Laura is responsible for furthering the development and implementation of substrates suited for HP Indigo’s growing customer base. Longevity and a deep interest in the paper industry (second only to her infinite love of her two sons and husband in Chicago) helps Laura to guide printers to products that provide productive and quality results.

Dr. Roland Geyer
Assistant Professor – Industrial Ecology, Production & Operations Management,
University of California Santa Barbara, Bren School

Dr. Rolamd Geyer was born and educated in Germany, where he was trained in engineering and physics. Geyer came to the Bren School in 2003 and now teaches courses in production and operations management, and in the emerging field of industrial ecology. Geyer is interested in the life cycle of manufactured goods – the processes in the form of energy and material flows that are related to transforming raw materials into products and, ultimately, waste – and in the environmental and economic potential of reuse and recycling activities. He also studies the evolution of green business plans, a model that relates corporate financial performance to corporate environmental performance.

Gary Jones
Director, Environmental, Health & Safety Affairs
PIA/GATF

Gary A. Jones is the director of the environmental, health and safety (EHS) affairs at the Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) near Pittsburgh, Pa. His primary responsibility is to monitor and analyze EHS regulatory activities at all government levels and provide representation on behalf of the printing industry. In doing so, Mr. Jones works closely with the federal and state-level Environmental Protection Agencies (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA), and Department of Transportation (DOT).

Prior to joining GATF in 1987, Mr. Jones worked in the field of forensic science as an analytical chemist. He holds a BS in biology from LaRoche College and an MS in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh.

Sujeesh Krishnan
US Business Development Manager, Carbon Footprint Project
The Carbon Trust

Sujeesh is responsible for the Carbon Trust's product carbon footprinting and labeling initiatives in the U.S. He is coordinating pilot efforts with leading manufacturers and retailers and is also working with key government bodies, NGOs and think tanks around the development of product carbon footprinting standards.

Sujeesh has worked at Ernst & Young, GetConneted, Inc., a digital services aggregator and 2 Technologies, Inc., a supply chain solutions provider. He holds a B.E. (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from the Biria Institute of Technology and Science, an M.S. in Manufacturing Systems Enginerring from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from MIT-Sloan.

Kenneth L. Macro, Jr.

Ken Macro is a professor in Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department, specializing in marketing, sales, lean manufacturing and production management. He is co-author of the book "Lean Printing: Pathway to Success" and serves as faculty advisor to UGS, which offers Cal Poly graphic communication students the opportunity to learn all facets of printing and publishing, from marketing and sales to estimating, costing, budgeting, production, distribution and quality control. Ken holds a BA from the Pennsylvania State University and an MA from the University of Akron. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in education from Walden University.

Dr. Daniel Mahler

Daniel Mahler is a partner in A.T. Kearney's New York office and the firm's global coordinator for Sustainability. He has more than nine years of consulting experience with the firm and has been based in our offices in New York, London, and Berlin. Daniel was lead author of the recent white paper "Chain Reaction," which includes findings of A.T. Kearney's joint 2007 study with the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) on sustainability and supply chains. He is a frequent speaker on sustainability topics for industry organizations. Daniel earned both a Ph.D. and M.A. in communications from the University of Hannover, Germany.

Andrew Mannie serves as Senior Editor of Arcwire.org where he runs a news site dedicated to sustainable development, innovation and policy. He has covered major green conferences , interviewed numerous thought leaders and published over 50 stories relating to green building, renewable energy, environmental policy, sustainable business and climate change. He is a member of the Sustainable Business Council of Los Angeles, a track advisor and moderator for West Coast Green 2008, a moderator for The Green Media Show Conference, a board member for Ethos Green Energy Asset Finance and a consultant for a variety of green businesses and environmental organizations.

Dr. Eric Olsen

Dr. Olsen is Assistant Professor of Industrial Technology professor at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, where he teaches undergraduate and MBA students course work in Operations Management with focus on Lean Manufacturing and course work in Industrial Planning and Control.

Dr. Olsen is also Senior Consultant and Lean Practitioner with Venture Outsource and was the former Worldwide Manufacturing Education Manager with Hewlett-Packard. Dr. Olsen received his Ph.D. in Operations Management from Ohio State University.

In addition, John has more than 30 years of hands-on experience dealing with technology issues covered in The Seybold Report.

Nicholas (Nico) W. van Aelstyn

Nicholas (Nico) W. van Aelstyn has more than 17 years of environmental counseling and litigation experience; he co-chairs both the firm's Climate Change and its Subsurface Contamination & Superfund practice groups. Mr. van Aelstyn's environmental counseling practice focuses on climate change, sustainability, international obligations, Brownfields redevelopment, regulatory and transactional matters. Mr. van Aelstyn also is a registered lobbyist and has been active in a number of legislative and rulemaking arenas on climate change issues. Mr. van Aelstyn's environmental litigation practice focuses on cost recovery actions, regulatory enforcement actions, and representation of PRPs and PRP groups at Superfund sites. His litigation practice encompasses intellectual property, as well as commercial, real estate, and appellate litigation matters. He has handled matters in state and federal courts across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as various administrative fora.
